Since 2012 Nicky has been teaching guitar and musical ensemble classes at the art academy ‘Ter Beuken’ in Lokeren for which she received tenure in 2015. In the past she also gained a lot of work experience teaching at several other art academies spread throughout Flanders.

Nicky Frissyn, born in Halle on May 1st 1988, followed her first guitar lessons with Johan Van Den Bossche and further developed her abilities by attending the masterclasses of Eddy Peremans. At the age of 18 she continued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent where she got the opportunity to cultivate and explore her musicality extensively under the watchful eyes of guitar virtuosi Johan Fostier and Yves Storms. She received her Master’s Degree in Performing Arts for Classical Guitar in 2012. Throughout the years she has also attended several international internships and masterclasses.

Nicky has a very broad taste in music and likes to challenge herself technically. This is reflected in the diverse and wide range of musical projects she has already taken part in. In addition to the classical ensembles Volta Guitar Quartet and Alma Peridida, Nicky is also a permanent member of more experimental groups such as Al di Miseria, The Advent of March and technical trash metal band, Tensor. Beside the classical and avant-garde side of the spectrum, she has teamed up with swing-jazz band Cat Cat Canary and rock group Van Huyghen on multiple occasions in the past. Over time she also worked as a replacement bass player for many other rock, pop and reggae projects as well as musically supporting various big orchestras during her younger years.
